What’s your background?
Over ten years ago, when I was asking around about potential jobs, someone suggested HR and it stuck. Since then I’ve worked for charities, the NHS and SME’s in a variety of roles under the umbrella of HR; and over that time the purpose of HR has changed - for the better.

Describe your role at Difrent.
As the People Manager, I like to have an impact throughout the entire employee lifecycle. From getting you through the door at the recruitment stage to waving you off when you decide to leave - and everything in between. The best part of my role is that I get to be legitimately nosey about people.

Who are you outside of Difrent?
I’m a very simple character, three of my most favourite things are reading, driving and camping, which thankfully fit quite well together. During the brief summer weeks the UK permits, you'll find me packing up my car and finding some empty green space to explore - and quietly read a book.

Who would you invite to dinner, dead or alive?
Michelle Obama, Jane Austen and Marcus Garvey.

Michelle Obama has provided so many young women with a strong role model, not only as a leader and advocate, but also as a mother.

The mere act of getting her books published was a feat in itself on the part of Jane Austen, with her works being published anonymously or ‘By a Lady’. Her stories largely featured strong minded women of their time and those that did falter in what they wanted.

This Jamaican born activist Marcus Garvey led the Pan-Africanism movement and was a noted civil rights activist in the USA. He made such an impact to the lives of African and Caribbean people worldwide. I’d want to give him a huge hug and say thank you.
