Dave Hudson, Developer
Delivery | Developer | Public sector | Digital

What’s your background?
IT Programme Manager with 20+ years of experience through financial services, motor manufacturing and government and latterly health service.

Describe your role at Difrent
Currently a developer for Difrent helping with the delivery of NHS Jobs programme. As a sideline, I am helping set up Difrent’s new base of operation in Newcastle at the Toffee Factory. This sees me donning my overalls to carry out Bob the Builder activities such as measuring, fitting and developing the office space to ensure everything is in place and ready for our upcoming hires and new business ventures.

Who are you outside of Difrent?
I'm a parent to 3 kids, 2 boys and 1 girl and epitomise the dad's taxi. A person who likes adventure, always a laugh, reliable and hard working. I love my sports, particularly football (limited to watching NUFC these days), swimming, golf and mountain biking (until recently anyway). I’m a car nut and technology geek who also happens to enjoy fine wines and playing on the game console. My wife tells me that I am not your average IT/technology geek, much more to me than meets the eye!

Who would you invite to dinner, dead or alive?
My wife would hope I would say her and while I’ve thought long and hard about alternatives, I have to admit I’d probably still pick her. She understands me, always knows how to push my buttons, good and bad and knows what makes me tick. After being married for so long, there must be something she is doing right as I’d find it hard to be in a lot of other people’s company for anywhere near that length of time.

Introducing: Chris King

No matter what the role, the basis was always the same. Take things on, own them and share out the successes at the end.

But, what do you actually do?

“But what do you actually do!” I remember hearing what looked like a four-year-old girl say to whom looked like her very smartly dressed dad.

Boss Babies On Board

Having always been an interim and having never been through a ‘proper’ onboarding process in any organisation I had surprisingly strong views about how we would approach this with our new graduate hires.
