Rachel Murphy - Diary of a CEO: days 80-120more
Procurement | Commercial | Solutions Driven | PCR Expert
What’s your background?
Procurement, procurement, procurement! We’ll ignore the brief foray into recruitment! I’ve worked in public and private sector for all types of organisations including health, housing, transport, and IT. I’m a procurement geek and love anything to do with buying stuff. I love working with people and helping them to deliver for their organisation, colleagues and end-users.
Describe your role at Difrent
I’m here to help Difrent’s customers with procurement and commercial matters so they can deliver. Working in partnership with my colleagues to ensure Difrent and our customers have the right contracts in place for goods and services.
Who are you outside of Difrent?
I’m a husband, a father, a drummer, a cook, and a Christian. I am blessed daily by my two beautiful girls Jessica and Molly. Jessica is obsessed with horses, which is why I’m so poor, and Molly is my fearless wild child who will one day run the world. My incredible wife Jo runs her own child music and sensory classes and is a professional singer. I love drumming, and music, anything from Foo Fighters, to Elton John, to Kylie, to Buddy Rich, to George Michael. I have been a Christian since I was 23 and attend Church every week with Jo and our girls, and I’m normally seen drumming and Jo is singing. My passion at Church is to see more men involved in some way, and I’m often seen cooking every few months a massive fried breakfast for a group of men.
Who would you invite to dinner, dead or alive?
From a totally sentimental point of view I’d invite my Dad who died in 2018. I miss his jokes, his wisdom, his enthusiasm and encouragement for me. As a big musicals fan, and Hamilton being my favourite, I’d invite Lin-Manuel Miranda. An incredibly talented musician and lyricist.
As a massive West Wing fan, and a love of American politics, I’d invite Ruth Bader Ginsburg, an associate justice on the Supreme Court, to hear about her life and what her current views are on American and world politics.
And finally I’d invite Raymond Blanc, I mean why have a dinner party and have to cook yourself! I was very fortunate to eat at his restaurant once and the food is amazing!
