Introducing Dorian.png

Dorian Crane, Business Analyst
Project Management | Business Analyst

What’s your background?
I’ve been involved in project work in some form or another for close to ten years - I got my start following a... spirited disagreement over a graph with a call centre manager and it all snowballed from there! In that time I’ve worn many hats - Business Analyst, Project Manager and Operational Risk Analyst being the most common ones. I’ve worked in a variety of sectors from health insurance to NHS partner organisations to Financial Services Companies and am very keen to see where my career with Difrent takes me next.

Describe your role at Difrent.
As a Business Analyst, I’m very closely tied to requirements gathering and focus on identifying what the client needs from the project. But if previous experience is anything to go by, I’ll very quickly find myself drawn into all the other aspects of design and delivery of my projects.

Who are you outside of Difrent?
I’m a Live Action RolePlayer and spend most of my weekends dressed up to portray a variety of different characters. LARP is like a mixture of improvised theatre and tabletop roleplaying, it’s something I got into at university and have enjoyed ever since

I’ve been a massive wrestling fan since I first saw Jake ‘the Snake’ Roberts at Royal Rumble ‘92. Many years later I’m still hooked!

I’m keen to do more LGBT+ activism, as a nonbinary individual (I use They/Their pronouns) I’m especially interested in the current struggle for trans rights

Who would you invite to dinner, dead or alive?
Quentin Crisp is one of my favourite authors - his autobiographies are wonderful - and I think his wit and charm would add a lot to any gathering.

Kurt Cobain was a bit of a hero when I was a misunderstood teenager trying desperately to learn guitar to impress a guy at college. I’d just like to give him a hug and tell him how much his music meant to me!

Dorian Corey - Everyone loves a good sassy drag queen! Her speech in ‘Paris is Burning’ about legacies really hit home with me during a difficult time in my life

Wardley Mapping during a pandemic

Wardley Mapping is a brilliant tool for mapping out the landscape of a company, product, service, content strategy, and pretty much anything else. At Difrent, we’ve used it to map ourselves, our industry, our clients and the projects we work on.
