User Research | UX | Human-centered | Inclusive
What’s your background?
I’ve always been a creative problem solver. My career started by completing a BA in Industrial Design at Loughborough University and a year internship at an experience and service design agency. It was then when I realised working upfront to understand user and business challenges that I could work with others to help solve was for me.
I still feel really grateful to have won a Royal Society of Arts (RSA) Student Design Award whilst at University. Working on an RSA brief triggered my passion to be a Responsible User Researcher. In my career, I want to use my skills to drive positive change in society. I’m also a Fellow of the RSA, so I’m always up for giving back in appreciation of how they have helped me kick start my career.
Describe your role at Difrent.
As a User Researcher at Difrent, my role is to make sure no voices are left unheard in the design of services. Acting as an advocate for Human-centered design, I am always promoting the value of user research.
Who are you outside of Difrent?
I’m a keen surfer and love to get out on the sea, although it is certainly very fresh in the North East! I also enjoy reading, visiting the theatre and baking, and love to get tips from watching the Bake off.
Aside from that, I’m a family and friends oriented person, so I’ll take any opportunity to spend time with others. One of my favourites is spending time sitting in front of the fire with our dogs at my Grandparents!
Who would you invite to dinner, dead or alive?
One would have to be Mary Berry, I’d love to see first hand her baking tips and tricks. Also Andrew Lloyd Webber, it would be so cool to hear about how he gained inspiration for his amazing musicals.
