Jamal Burns, Client Success

What’s your background?

I’ve been working in and around technology for the last 10 years, mostly at the coalface that is delivery and account management.

Having spent 3 years working out of APAC, implementing software for fortune50 financial institutions, some repenting was needed. My focus now and for the last 5 years is on using technology for positive change.

Working in the public sector has allowed me to do just that, design and deliver impactful and positive change not just for citizens, but wider society as well. It’s what gets me out of bed in the morning!

Describe your role at Difrent.

I am part of the Growth team at Difrent.

My time is currently split between Account Management (or, Client Success as we like to call it!), and New Business Development. Which to me means I get the best of both worlds. I get to work with ‘real life’ clients to solve challenging and complex problems, whilst also sharing the good work we produce and engaging with new people and organisations.

I just like talking I guess. And my role definitely allows me to do that.

Who are you outside of Difrent?

Dare I answer….. I joke.

Pretty simple really – I have a small but wonderful family and am an avid sports fan! I have been known to get involved in some sponsored events, shark diving and bungee jumping to name a couple, but most of the time I am happy seeing friends and family, looking after my doggo, and planning my next trip away.

Who would you invite to dinner, dead or alive?

My mother. She’s my absolute heroine and I wouldn’t have it any other way (unless she insisted on cooking, in which case I love you mum, but you’ve got to sit this one out).

Then I guess I’ll get creative… Michelle and Barak Obama, Elon Musk, Steve Jobs, Denzil Washington, Tim Minchin, Queen Boudica, Pele, Elvis…hang on, how big is the table? I could go on… But I think that’s a decent start for a weird and wonderful evening!
