Rebecca MacEwan, Bid Manager

What’s your background?

I went from a marketing background into bid writing and business development for a Scottish construction company. While working there I began personal training part-time and focussed mostly on young women who had suffered from disordered eating to help them begin to develop healthier relationships with their bodies.

From that experience, I then owned a gym for a little while as I wanted to help more people but it ended up taking up too much of my time and I wasn’t able to dedicate as much time to helping people as I would have liked.

I went back into bid writing – this time in the service design industry – and now here I am.

Describe your role at Difrent.

I work in the Growth team as one of Difrent’s Bid Managers.

I work across different bids and proposals. Also, the processes involved to get winning proposals out the door and projects for the team in the door.

Who are you outside of Difrent?

Essentially, just a Scottish country bumpkin – imagine a blonde Merida but with less of an annoying accent (hopefully).

Recently packed in living in Glasgow and moved to the countryside to ride my horses, go walking with my Jack Russell up hills, and hang out on a wee boat on Loch Lomond every weekend unencumbered.

Also a lover of caffeine, wine, and carbs which leads me to my other love – the gym.

Who would you invite to dinner, dead or alive?

Robin Williams – breaks my heart that the world lost such a character and I’d love to get the chance to hear him talk about his life and all his characters.

Would also invite Solange Knowles because I feel like she’d spill more tea than Beyoncé, she would make a great dinner guest.
